Bibliotherapy: Using Children's Books to Bridge Sensitive Topics and Build Resiliency

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Today's children face significant levels of stress, anxiety and trauma. Similarly, our ever-changing world brings sensitive issues right into the classroom- such as cultural diversity, sexual orientation, gender identity, disabilities, blended families and inequality, to name just a few. Quality children's literature provides a natural segue way to learn about, discuss and cope with real life situations in developmentally appropriate ways. Explore sample titles, discussion techniques and follow up activities to reduce anxiety, enhance understanding, widen perspectives and build resiliency.
