“To engage students in learning opportunities through which they discover their interests in practical and purposeful ways” The above can be said to be the mission statement of the Communication Technology module of the Career and Technology Studies (CTS) program. Granted the speed at which technology and innovations have been evolving, students will be facing an ever-increasing diversity of information to learn, remember, and utilize. As well the diversity of the ComTech subject material is great for attracting interests but it also meant that teachers have to be knowledgeable in many areas. During this hour, you will be presented with my approach to introducing students to the world of Computing Sciences and to informing, exciting, and maybe encouraging them to pursue studies in the field of computer technology (hardware and software). This session covers concepts such as computer programming, 3D-modelling, music creation, digital design, game development, and internet programming. Best of all, these concepts can be learned at each student’s pace. Also, as school districts move to implement the "Bring Your Own Device" policy and are encouraging parents to purchase ChromeBooks, all of the programs used in this session are accessible on these devices.
