Good fuel is important for success on and off the playing field. It’s not only about knowing what to eat – it’s also about knowing when, and how much. Proper nutrition and hydration is vital for young athletes because they need to eat well enough to support healthy growth AND optimal sports performance. Perhaps you are coaching a junior or senior sports team and are looking for new ideas to help your team thrive? Or maybe you are interested in learning more about sports nutrition to make the most out of your own activities? Whatever your reason, this session is for you! Join Public Health Dietitians from Alberta Health Services in an interactive session on fueling for activity. You will leave with resources like the Sports Nutrition for Youth: A Handbook for Coaches and new strategies to “up your game” with nutrition. Note - This session will focus on the needs of recreational athletes; elite level athletes may wish to consult a private practice dietitian for individualized counselling.
