This session is literacy centered, and is truly "a little of this, a little of that." Participants will learn about a variety of programs and interactive projects that promote practical literacy skills, including the Global Read Aloud program and Postcrossing. We will examine different methods of encouraging writing, including the use of write-around journalling and collaborative descriptive writing. We will look at how literacy instruction can be enhanced by cross-curricular connections with art, social studies, music and health. Participants will walk away with many, many new ideas to implement in their classrooms beginning Monday morning. This session is great for beginning teachers as well as experienced teachers looking to spice up their literacy instruction.
