Students and teachers often struggle with the techniques and tools required to join solid wood into an amazing piece of furniture. We will be looking at Domino joinery, bisquit joinery, dowelling, machine and hand tool techniques for wooden furniture construction. Each participant will leave with a completed piece of furniture and new skills.

In this one day workshop you will learn how to create, design and sew a tote bag. Adding your own creative touch, you can make a Boho bag using recycled material from jeans, or cottons from your favorite clothing items. You can also create a stylish bag using purchased coordinating materials that you choose from cotton, flannel, twill or upholstery material. Once you have completed your Tote bag, you can show it off by carrying books, equipment or your teacher's planning book in it.

Cookie Baking and Decorating for Middle School Foods

Cookie Baking and decorating for Middle school foods will include a presentation on how my classroom is set up for grades 5 through 8, as well as a hands on demonstration of cookie mixing which will lead into my cookie challenge. We will be making cookies and then decorating them using some professional techniques. There will be opportunities to collaborate with the other teachers coming and eat some of our baking. In this session, I will be focussing on middle school CTF foods based options. I will be presenting on how unit on cookies runs and also we will be cooking together in the five kitchens at my school. There will be hands on demonstrations from myself, as well as bringing in a baker from our area to aid with icing techniques(if they are available). The focus will be on building a unit on proper cookie mixing with ideas for assessment, self evaluation and presentation. Teachers will come away with digital copies of recipes, rubrics, powerpoints, worksheets etc. and some decorated cookies!
